Spontaneous beach camping trip with a I’ll just wing it attitude made for a stress-free weekend!
Camping at the beach has always been a goal of mine so when I was given a two days’ notice invitation, I took it. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to sleep to the sounds of waves and wake up to a beautiful ocean. After researching the campground, I realized that camping will be a breeze so I decided to adopt a I’ll just wing it attitude and go with the flow.
Located in San Diego County, San Elijo State Beach Campground is situated on a cliff overlooking the ocean, offering convenient access to surfing, swimming, and walking on the beach. With amenities like flushing toilets, showers, a camp store, and even a laundry makes it a perfect location for easy camping. There is also a commercial area right across the street! Forget to buy wood for your campfire pit? No worries. Visit the camp store or cross the street to the 7-Eleven! The best part about this campground is being able to listen to Nature’s lullaby as you fall asleep. The sound of waves crashing on shore is one of the most relaxing sounds on Earth.
The downside to this campground is the layout. All campsites are in close proximity to each other which offers little privacy. The campground is also located next to a busy road so expect loud noises from passing cars. It is still a great location for a relaxing weekend getaway.
